OUR HISTORY
In 2003, Mulberry Center, Inc. was
established by Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Foundation,
Inc. in response to the need for more community-based mental
health services. By increasing treatment resources in our
community, Evansville area families and employers benefit from
our ability to provide rapid access to treatment. At
Mulberry Center, a therapist can almost always begin seeing a
patient within three days of the initial call, and, in the event
of a crisis, the patient is assessed the day of the first call.
Although Mulberry Center, Inc. is a
fairly new resource in our community, it has roots that reach
back to 1985 when Welborn Hospital operated a psychiatric
facility, also named Mulberry Center. With the sale of
Welborn Hospital to St. Mary's Medical Center, the original
Mulberry Center eventually discontinued operations. Southwestern
stepped in with the recommendation to re-establish Mulberry
Center to continue with the quality services provided by the
original Mulberry Center through the years. The majority
of clinical staff at Mulberry Center today served patients at
the original Mulberry Center.
This veteran team of clinicians is
committed to our general mission of providing Solutions for
Life for our patients. Our commitment is to uphold a
standard of excellence that has always been associated with the
name, Mulberry Center.
